KINECTIC REACTOR DESIGN

This is a good subject that taught us how to differentiate different reactors, calculate the sizing of the reactor, and calculate mole balance and stoichiometry for the reaction in reactor as well as designing an isothermal reactor which all these skill will be  very useful in my future career life. It was a challenging subject, but we are lucky enough to get 2 good lectures, DR. Suzana Yusup and Dr M.Tazli Azizan which taught and assists us in understanding this subject. A lot of question and exercise is given during lecturer time as well as during tutorials. All this question had help us in practicing the calculation and also strengthen our memories about this subject.

CHEMICAL PROCESS DESIGN, INSTRUMENTATION AND CONTROLS

CPDIC is a very challenging subject which involves a lot of design equation for reactors. The first chapter taught us the control system for reactors, such as feedback system and feed forward system. The second chapter taught us about the mole balance, energy balance, component balance equation for steady states and dynamic state reactor. Whereares the third chapter taught to use laplace transform to find the gain for the reactor. Thanks to our lecture, Dr. Abbas Azarpour that taught us this complicated subject in details, we manage to follow up with his pace and this subject.

PROCESS SAVETY AND LOSS PREVENTION

PSLP taught us about the safety in plant site and how to prevent further loss or damage to the plant. This is an easier subject compare to either KRD or CPDIC because this subject involve mainly in calculations and less theory. But still we need to understand how the theory works in order to get the calculation correct and used the correct formula. To help us in subject, Dr Dzulkarnain Zaini had provides us a great help. He not only prints us the lecturer notes but also gave us a lot of helpful exercise after each chapter he taught.

Reflection on Board Game

After few weeks of discussion we decided to make our board game based on the game name ‘Avioane’ which is a board game similar to ‘Battleship’. Our group first come out with the idea of using ‘Battleship’ as our base, but soon we found out that the other group is using the same board game. So, after some discussion, we decide to use the game ‘Avioane’ which is a improvised game based on ‘Battleship’. This is a faster game compare to ‘Battleship’ as the player only need to hit his opponent plane cockpit to win the game. If the player hit the plant body but not cockpit, they will be given a question based on the 3 subjects. If they manage to answer the subject, they will be awarded with some clue or hint of the location of where the cockpit is. Therefore, we only need to think 30 questions for the players.

Reflection on Questions of Board Game

We need to think and make 30 questions for this board game from 3 different subjects, and the question have to fulfill the top 3 level of the pyramid of Blooms Taxonomy which includes evolution, synthesis, and analysis. And also, among the 30 question, we differentiate them to 3 difficulties, easy, medium and hard. We will give the question to the players step by step, so they will be benefit from playing this board game and answer the questions.

Contribution to This Subject

During our first meeting , i was been given the job of designing the webpage. I have to key-in all the details of every group memebers, the board game concept, mind map, and all the realted materials into this website. Besides, i also gave the idea of modifying the popular board game 'monopoly' as a based of our project. But, this idea wasn't be accept, and my groupmembers came up with a better idea, that is using the game "Avioane" as a based board game.

Suggestion

I really hope that this group project wouldn't be a burden to our study life, but sadly it is really a heavy burden ! Due to the time constrain and also tons of lab reports, assignemnts, we barely have time to complete this subject. L:uckly, our groupmembers are good in time management, and somehow, our grouop progress is always on time. Therefore, my suggestion is to prolong the due day of this group project and please dont set the due date on the hectic week where, there is a tons of presentation, assignment , lab report and test.  :)
