Reflection

Kinetics and Reactor Design

I quite like this subject because we have a good lecturer teaching us who is Assoc. Prof. Dr. Suzana. Actually, she was our previous lecturer for Separation Processes. Her teaching method is good because she will ensure we practice the subject related questions in class so that we get a thorough understanding about the subject. She would also assign one of us randomly to show his/her solution on the whiteboard and ask he/her to further explain about it. This could indirectly improve students’ communication skills especially when they have to conduct presentation in the future career.

Process Safety and Loss Prevention

Process Safety and Loss Prevention is being taught by Dr. Dzulkarnain. He was the previous lecturer who taught us HSE last year. At first, I thought that PSLP is similar to HSE meaning that we have to study HSE for second time. In fact, HSE was a subject full with long stranded theories that would definitely make most of the student sluggish and drowsy. However, after several weeks of attending PSLP, I felt that it was totally different from HSE where in PSLP, a lot of concept and calculation are being taught. We also used to practice lots of exercises during class which make our concept grasping to be more easily.

CHEMICAL PROCESS DESIGN, INSTRUMENTATION AND CONTROLS

This subject has been the killer subject for chemical engineering. This subject is being taught by Dr. Abbas Azarpour who is a new lecturer in UTP. Despite of his first time, he is a good lecturer who always tries his best to make us understand about the subject. He used to explain everything and gives example so that we could try to solve first and later he will explain further and try to rectify our mistakes. Hopefully, we will be able to cope with this subject because it is really the toughest subject compared to the subjects that we have gone through.

Reflection on the Board Game

At first, we have decided to design with a game called “Battleship”. Since it has been taken by another group, we finally came out with another game called “Avione”. Basically, its idea is that each player will have a board with 3 planes, and to win the game, player must hit all the cockpits of his/her opponent. In order to attack the cockpits, player has to answer questions related to the 3 subjects which are PSLP, KRD and CPDIC. In designing this game, I have learned to use Prezi, Powtoon, create e-portfolio, upload video on Youtube which might be useful for my future career.

Reflections on the questions posed for KRD, PSLP and CPDIC on the Board game

Our board game has 30 cards of questions, they are divided into three levels of difficulty which are easy, medium and hard. Hopefully, the students could understand more about the subjects while having fun at the same time. By changing the these subjects into the mode of game, we hope students would be more interested in studying  these subjects.

Contributions and Roles to the Project

At first, we have decided to choose Battleship over several ideas which were coming from everyone. Unfortunately, we realised that our concept has been used by other group when we are told by  the lecturer to give a short explanation about our game. So, we have decided to change our game into “Avnione” which was an idea proposed by Athirah. Every one of us has been distributed by our own tasks. My part is to study CPDIC thoroughly and design questions related to CPDIC for the board game. As for role, I have to say I am the accuracy coach or sometimes the skeptic for the group.

Suggestion for the Improvement

I think it would be better if we could be more cooperative, tolerant and considerate. (Glad that we did!). On top of that, I think It would be better if the works assigned from the coordinator for this project can be reduced as literally it seems to be impossible to spend less than 20 hours for this project.
